Arrived in Addis Ababa!

Well, we made it. Two delayed flights and minus two bags of luggage but we're actually here! Sam, the JSC Fellow in Addis met us at the airport and it was nice to see a familiar friendly face. It's the middle of the night, it's rainy and chilly. We'll have to go back to the airport tomorrow around midnight to check for our bags (only one flight from Istanbul daily). It's dark so I didn't see much on our short ride to the hotel. One woman and her small child begging for money outside the airport, stray dogs along the road, notice that men stand in tight lines together...Excited to explore Addis with Sam and Max tomorrow.

Orientation begins this evening in New York City. I'm leaving DC this morning and it's definitely bittersweet. While I'll miss my friends and family more than I can express in words I am also incredibly excited for the adventure ahead! I have a feeling I may also slightly miss constant running water, electricity and the luxuries I enjoy at home. Think 4 overstuffed bags will get me through the year (embarrassing but can you blame a girl)? Looking forward to meeting the other Fellows this week and hearing about their various assignments. It's finally time, here we go!
